How To Make A Thrifty Jewelry Organizer

I love a good deal, so much so that I recently realized
I have spent very little in recent years on jewelry.
I am not talking the Tiffany box jewelry, or tennis
bracelet jewelry.  But good quality, fun pieces that
reflect my style and are not so trendy I won't want to
wear them in six months.

I also realized that I not been taking very good care of the
jewelry I already have.  It has been in a bathroom drawer in
an ever-increasing jumbled mess.  So my gal Kirsten
taught me a few things, and I invested in some of her fabulous
Premier Designs Jewelry. I promised myself that I would
store my jewelry in a dry, clean area that is easy to see
when I get ready every day.
Guess what?!
I am wearing my jewelry way more than I used to.
Probably because I no longer have to dig to the bottom of a
dark drawer, but pick something I like off my "new"
jewelry organizer.

I have a couple pieces of already-painted
black wood shelving that I have used recently,
which I used for this organizer too.
I brushed on a bit of white and tan acrylic paint
to mottle the surfaces of the board a bit and distressed
the surface and edges with some fit sandpaper.
This gave the wood some definition and helped
the black iron pop a bit against it.

Next I put to use this little wrought iron sconce I
picked up recently while thrifting that was missing
it's glass holders.  Perfect for me since I didn't need them!

I had two black curtain tie backs with crystal
knobs on hand (intended for another project initially.)
I attached the sconce and two tie backs
with small wood screws that
were painted black.

Using some heavy duty picture hanging wire
and two more screws on the back of the wood,
I was able to hang my organizer up and load
it full of bling.

This was a very quick project to make, but so
long overdue.  I have been trying to find a way
to not only store and organize, but do it in a way
as to not look out of place on the wall.
I think I found it!
Are you way ahead of me and have been keeping
yourself organized forever?
I would love to hear about what you are working
on and how you may be kicking off your
Spring cleaning and/or organizing.
Mine is beginning to look like I need
a Pod, or two perhaps :)

Please follow along & don't miss a thrifty thing!!
 xo, Tanya
