that I have inherited lately, this
loan oak stool was among the lot.
She was ok like she was, but
I could see some fun potential
in her. So out came the paint
and sandpaper.
I would probably not do a huge area
in a busy, bright print like this spring
green chevron. But a sunny spot in my
kitchen longed for something sassy
and not too serious. I debated between
yellow, aqua and green. The green won,
and I love how it turned out. I have two
more outdated kitchen stools in the garage
that will be next on my radar.
I used an heirloom white spray paint, and
covered the entire stool with two good coats.
I let the stool dry overnight, then using
masking tape and scissors, I taped out
my chevron design. I started in the center
of the stool and worked my way out from there.
This made it a lot easier to follow the pattern
to the top and bottom of the seat.
I used three coats of spring green acrylic
craft paint and a sponge pouncer to apply
the green chevron stripes. Once they were
completely dry, I removed the tape
and used a course sandpaper all over,
more heavily in some areas.
The areas of the stool that were already worn
and the original varnish was cracked,
distressed easily.
I used a light coat of matte polyurethane
sealer on the seat and voila!
My green chevron gal is in her
happy, sunny new spot.
