Green Oven Cleaner That WORKS!

I am going to share some pictures with you today that I hope will not do the following:

1) Scar you for life because they are so shameful
2) Make you think I am gross

I have saved TONS of DIY cleaning tips and ideas from Pinterest for a while now, and tested quite a few out.  But I have only shared my laundry soap with you which I loved.  Along the way there have been a few fails.  When you see an idea on Pinterest about How To Clean Your House In 5 Minutes A Day.,Get Your Kids To Listen By Thinking Positive, Or Homemade Mozzarella you wonder if they work.  And so do I, so when I try one I am going to share it with you.

My oven.  Also known as the thing I never clean and caught on fire after Thanksgiving.  Yes, it was SO nasty that when I tried the self-clean setting it started a fire.  That was a oven's way of crying for help if you ask me.

You need:
Large box of baking soda
A bottle of vinegar
A good, sturdy scrubber, rubber gloves and towels

Cover your oven door and bottom of your oven (racks removed) with a 1/2 inch layer of baking soda.
Pour vinegar over the baking soda so it fizzes and absorbs into the baking soda and let it sit about 30-40 minutes with the door open.

This photo is the after picture it makes me happy

This was the before, this is just the tip of the iceberg of grossness, trust me

After about 30 minutes I could no longer wait to see if it was working and boy was it.  Here is a shot of the before/after on my oven door glass, yuk.

I am in love with my "new" oven

After I scrubbed the dirty areas, I cleaned up the leftover grey-gunk with a few towels, rinsed them well then wiped out the entire oven a couple times rinsing the towels in between until all the soda was gone and the oven was shining.

Yay! A Door I can see through, amazing!  It was so clean it was pretty hard to get a shot of it with no glare.  And now I am showing everyone who comes over because I am so excited to redeem myself with anyone who actually does this more often than I have.

I like the idea of cleaning my home naturally and making my own cleaning supplies.  I am not a fan of the chemical cleaners, or even the self-clean setting (it stinks and takes hours to finish) so I will be doing this every so often to keep my oven looking good!

Thank you so much for reading friends, and I would love to know if you have tried this and loved the results as much as I have.

Hugs & Blessings
xoxo Tanya
